What are medicinal herbs?

Do you know that ALL plants synthesize hundreds of chemical compounds for their OWN needs including defence against invaders such as insects, fungi, diseases, and herbivorous mammals?

In herbal medicine we use medicinal plants and call them herbs. They naturally contain a wide range of medicinal bio chemical compounds. Those compounds impart healing properties to herbs. The difference between a pharmaceutical drug and a medicinal herb is that a pharmaceutical drug only has one active compound extracted/ synthesized and put into a pill, whereas a medicinal herb naturally contains a lot of various active healing compounds. That is why medicinal herbs exist and stand their grounds for thousands of years in every world culture.
